Responsible for the School Liaison Program, the investigation of juvenile crime, the D.A.R.E. program, and the nationally recognized Police Accountability Conferencing Program. Members of the unit are Officer Mark Yates at the Anoka Senior High School and Officer Tony Newton at Anoka Middle School for the Arts.
D.A.R.E. Many officers in the Anoka Police Department have been trained as DARE instructors. Each year, every 5th grader in Anoka will go through the 10-week course to teach children how to say "no" to drugs and violence. D.A.R.E. alone cannot stop drug abuse, but it can give students the life skills necessary to resist drugs and crimes. It also lets them get to know a police officer in a non-threatening arena.
