Door to Door Solicitations
Requirements & Process
The City requires that all individuals traveling door-to-door within the city of Anoka, selling products or soliciting for commercial business purposes (for-profit solicitor) must be registered with the City and carry a City-issued badge. This also includes Tree Care companies or an Arborist. If you want to know if a company has license, please call the Administration department to confirm.
As part of the license application review process, in an effort to protect the public safety and welfare of our community, City staff conducts a criminal background investigation on each individual. Upon City approval, each individual is issued an official city badge which has the City seal embossed on it. The badge is to be worn on the outside of their clothing so it is easily seen. If a peddler or for-profit solicitor comes to your door and is not wearing a City issued badge, please call us.
This door-to-door activity is only allowed to occur between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., every day of the week.
What If I Don’t Want Solicitors on my Property?
If you do not want this type of activity on your property you may hang a sign stating "Peddlers Solicitors Prohibited" in letters at leas 1/2" high at the entrance of your property. You may also want to put something on or near your front door.
If you encounter any issued with a peddler/solicitor, please contact the Anoka Police Department or in the case of an emergency, call 911.
