  1. Vitality Arts Older Adults Art Camp: Nature Watercolor

    August 16, 2021, 9:00 AM - August 20, 2021, 12:00 PM @ Peninsula Point Park

Rumriver Art Center presents Nature Watercolor. Watercolor is delightful, fresh, exciting, messy, delicate and tender, all at the same time. It is an enormously popular painting medium and has been since the nineteenth century. The most brilliant quality of watercolors is transparency and in this camp students will learn how to use it in their watercolor paintings. We will learn how to use the palette, how to mix color in order to have the right shade, and a lot about brushes and brushstrokes. Plus, we will learn a lot about composition, light and form, tonal painting, and negative space. All social distancing guidelines will be followed. Participants must wear a mask or face shield while taking the class. Peninsula Point Park has a shelter and restrooms. Class is for adults 55+ and is limited to 10 participants.

  2. Anoka Farmers Market

August 17, 2021, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Just west of the Anoka Police Department

The Anoka Farmers Market is back for 2021 and has MOVED to 2nd Ave. & Harrison St. in downtown Anoka, next to the Anoka Police Department, near the three grain bins – easy to spot! Organizers are planning a plentiful season of produce and a selection of various other types of products (maple syrup, coffee beans, etc.). Selection grows as the season grows. Produce farmers are members of the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and will accept vouchers. Add some music to your visit! Following the Farmers Market at 6 p.m., the City’s Rockin’ on the Rum concerts take place in the summer months at Riverfront Memorial Park (adjacent to the market). Pick up your fresh produce for the week and stay for an evening of great music and community fun! The Anoka Farmers Market is organized and hosted by the Anoka County Growers Association and assisted by City of Anoka. For information on what’s available, call the Farmers Market information line at 763-792-4025.
