[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 Update

Image of COVID 19 Virus

What does it mean to have a public power provider when a nationwide pandemic occurs? It means we have the ability to rapidly evolve as the situations change.

We started first by following CDC recommendations as far as social distancing, proper hand-washing etc. As the pandemic grew we have allowed some of our staff to work from home. We suspended contract work to only what is necessary in order to continue to function and improve our infrastructure. We have split our crews into two separate groups. each reporting to different locations to limit any potential for cross contamination. Shortly, we will be having two individuals working from home weekly and being rotated in and out to avoid further risk of contamination. While they are home they will be required to complete online training and help with analyzing our system to look for needed improvements.

As a public power provider, we already invest most of our moneys into system upgrades in order to eliminate unnecessary outages. This foresight eliminates many emergencies, and those that do occur are of a lesser scale of intensity.

While we have had a couple of minor outages during this period, our crews have responded admirably, and power was restored quickly.

As situations change, we will keep our customer concerns at the forefront, and will continue to keep your lights on.
