Anoka Municipal Utility (AMU) customers who choose to participate in the Round Up for Change program also choose to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families in need within our community.
AMU participating customers "round-up" their monthly utility bill to the next highest dollar. For example, if an AMU utility bill is $42.79, it is rounded up to $43.00. The additional 21 cents goes to the Round up for Change program. The average contribution from each participating utility customer is about 50 cents a month. Although this contribution is not tax deductible, the most a customer can contribute annually is $11.88.
Voluntary round up contributions provide financial assistance to worth-while activities, organizations and community projects that improve the lives of families, children and seniors right here in our community. Over the past 8 years, AMU Utility customers participating in the Round Up program have given more than $320,000 to local charitable organizations such as ACBC Food Shelf in Anoka, Cross and CEAP Food Shelves in Champlin, Alexandra House, and more.
