[ARCHIVED] Sledding, Skating, Snowshoeing, & Skiing

Snowshoeing Green Haven

Need a screen time break or excuse to play outside? Try sledding at George Enloe Park! Located at 631 Lund Blvd, George Enloe Park has a two options for sledding. There are two hills available - one is well suited for thrill seekers and older children; the other provides a gentler ride. Both hills will be lit at night when the warming house is open.  Covid-19 restrictions are in place. Masks must be worn inside. Interior restrooms are available for use in an emergency during posted hours, but the warming house will not available for general use until the current executive order expires. Up to date information is posted at the rinks regarding the warming house availability

Whether you cross country ski for sport, exercise, or fun, the groomed trails at Green Haven Golf Course and the Anoka Nature Preserve are sure to meet your needs. Green Haven Golf Course provides approximately five kilometers of trail winding around the course, looping back to the club house. Classic and skate skiing trails provide flat and hilly terrain challenges for beginner and intermediate skiers. To protect the greens and fairways, skiers must stay on the groomed trails and only use the cutbacks provided to get back to the parking lot. The groomed trail at Greenhaven is just for cross country skiers. Please keep all dogs leashed, off the classic ski tracks, and clean up after them.   Feel free to explore the golf course in your snow shoes or hike around in non-groomed areas. Follow skinnyski.com for up-to-date ski conditions.

Skating rinks will be ready soon! (Weather permitting of course!) Crews are working hard to make ice. Please check back for opening information or follow the City of Anoka on Facebook page for announcements. Covid-19 restrictions will be in place for the warming house. Masks must be worn while inside. Interior restrooms at Sorenson Park and George Enloe will be available for use in an emergency during posted hours, but the warming house will not be available for general use until the current executive order expires. Up to date information is posted at the rinks regarding the warming house availability. Rudy Johnson Park, Wilson Elementary and Lincoln Elementary have portable toilets available for use in a restroom emergency.  Lights will not be available this year at Rudy Johnson Park as the park rehabilitation project is not yet complete.

Use of snowshoes is encouraged and allowed in any city park. Beginners are welcomed to try them out on the multi-use trail at the Anoka Nature Preserve, 4299 Parkview Lane.  Feel free to blaze your own trail and go exploring through the woods or farm field.
